Cisco Unified Presence Server SQL Injection Vulnerability

Cisco-SA-20140103-CVE-2013-6983 · Medium · Published · Updated

A vulnerability in the web interface of Cisco Unified Presence Server could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system by executing arbitrary SQL queries. The vulnerability is due to a failure to validate user-supplied input used in SQL queries. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted URLs, including SQL statements. An exploit could allow the attacker to read, modify, or delete entries in some database tables. Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and released software updates. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would need to authenticate to the targeted device. This access requirement reduces the likelihood of a successful exploit. Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
