Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Arbitrary File Write Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the inter-process communication (IPC) channel of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client could allow an authenticated, local attacker to write arbitrary files with elevated privileges. The vulnerability is due to lack of authentication or authorization of certain IPC commands. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted IPC messages. A successful exploit could allow an attacker to write files to arbitrary locations on the filesystem, or overwrite arbitrary files. Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice; however, software updates are not available. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must authenticate and have local access to the system. These requirements may decrease the likelihood of a successful exploit. Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
