Cisco Web Security Appliance Web Tracking Report Page Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Cisco-SA-20150515-CVE-2015-0738 · Medium · Published · Updated

A vulnerability in the Web Tracking Report page of the Cisco Web Security Appliance (WSA) could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to perform a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against the user of the web interface.   The vulnerability is due to improper validation of user-supplied input in a field on the Web Tracking Report page. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to follow a malicious link. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected site or allow the attacker to access sensitive browser-based information. Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability; however, software updates are not available. To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker may provide a link that directs a user to a malicious site and use misleading language or instructions to persuade the user to follow the provided link.

Workarounds

Administrators are advised to contact the vendor regarding future updates and releases.

Users should verify that unsolicited links are safe to follow.
